is pleased to announce the birth of the

Litter!

Yes,  's Gypsy  outsmarted everyone yet again to create a litter of eight beautiful puppies.

The puppies were born September 21st and are doing quite well, but require a lot of TLC which Patty is providing!  Gypsy seems to be one who always ignores conventional wisdom.  Patty was taking her temperature at regular intervals awaiting the "drop" that would herald the 24 hour window.  We were also preparing for my Youth Group's fall installation so we were pleased when her temperature was still too high on the evening of the 21st.  About 3 hours after the last reading, I was sitting in the study and I heard a mewing from the next room where the dogs are.  Now Patty has also taken in two cats to find them homes so I became concerned that one of them had wondered into the Dog's room.  Patty checked upstairs, and both kittens were there.  Therefore, Rick was hearing things!  About 5 minutes later, I heard the mewing again, and realized what it was.  I grabbed Patty and told her that Gypsy had given birth, to which I got a, "That's Impossible!"  A quick look in the Dog room proved that I wasn't hearing things and Gypsy had delivered her first girl.  We quickly moved her to the whelping box and Patty, John, and Joann, Patty's friend finished the job...with Gypsy's help of course!

Today is October 17th and the puppies will be 4 weeks old on the 19th.  See the new pictures!  Their eyes are open and they are BIGGER and moving, abet a little shaky, on their own four feet.  Taking the pictures was tough because they were determine to look any way but where we wanted.  I have a bunch of pictures with dog's tails, no dog, under the bear, and almost every way a picture can be be unusable.  They are at that awkward stage between lump and camera hog!  On another front, Patty has started bottle feeding to supplement Gypsy's efforts and they will soon be weaned from mother all together.  We will also start their medical support this week to get them ready for their Open House weekend and going home with their new families.

Today is October 28th and we have posted the third set of pictures.  The puppies are eating soft dog food and still drinking the milk concoction and growing like weeds.  Boy are they fast...Patty calls them the "Herd" and they always want to be where we want them most.  We will announce the open house weekend soon.

We will have our open house on the 10th and 11th of November from 10AM to 5PM.  This is your big chance to see all of the puppies before they go to their new homes.  Contact us and let us know if you are coming and if you need directions!  Remember, you don't have to buy a puppy to come and see these beauties!

Today is November 23th and the puppies got their second shots.  They are growing like weeds as you can see (now in the 9 lb. range), and a number of them are already spoken for, so if you want to be a part of the Super Heroes Litter contact us.  They will be ready to go to their new homes in a WEEK.

Its the 2nd of December and the exodus has begun!  Three of our babies are with their new families and it is altogether possible that a forth will begin his life journey today.  It is always a bittersweet time when the litter begins to break up to begin their new lives.  They are hard to deal with, from the mess to the escapes from their area so they can find us in the house, but, ... but they quickly endear themselves to you and melt the hardest heart.  We always ask for information and pictures, and love it when, all to seldom, we do get something.  There are still several puppies looking for the right home, so if you want to be considered, contact us.

December 9th and as you can see, one by one our puppies are being matched to wonderful families.  Steve (Captain America) is awaiting his trip to Sunny Florida to join his anxious family for Christmas.  Peter (Spiderman) has just been tapped by one of our puppy people family and Bruce (Batman) also has a prospective family.  Only Superman is still looking for the right for the right family and it MIGHT BE YOU!

December 18th is the date and it looks like all of our babies are spoken for.  Batman is with his family, Superman and Captain America will be going to Florida to begin their new lives, and Spiderman will reside in Northern Virginia.  Kara will stay and hopefully take her place in continuing the Navio line.

Fair thee well Super Heroes, fair winds and following seas!
